Our Society's Services
Introduction
Established in 1956, the Hong Kong Society for the Blind, (hereafter called the Society),
is a government subvented voluntary agency dedicated to the well-being of the visually impaired people in Hong Kong.
In the past 47 years, the Society has been providing comprehensive educational, rehabilitation, vocational training,
medical, social and residential services to visually impaired clients in Hong Kong.
The services of the Society are grouped under four divisions. They are the Finance & Administration, Research & Development,
Rehabilitation and Residential Services Divisions. The Finance and Administration Division includes
the Accounts and Administration Departments and the Factory for the Blind.
The Research and Development Division includes: the General Eye and Low Vision Clinic and
the Parents Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired Children.
As for the Rehabilitation Division, there are five service departments: the Rehabilitation and Training Centre,
the Centralized Braille Production Centre, the Communication Department,
the Health Massage and Treatment Centre and the Career Support and Development Centre.
The Residential Services Division operates six Homes and Hostel.
They are the Yuen Long Home for the Aged Blind, the Jockey Club Tuen Mun Home for the Aged Blind,
the Kowloon Home for the Aged Blind, the Bradbury Care and Attention Home for the Aged Blind,
the Morning Glory Day Activity Centre cum Hostel and the Bradbury Home.
The Society's Headquarters building, situated at 248 Nam Cheong Street, Kowloon, Hong Kong, is a Multi Service Centre
for the blind which houses the Central Administration office and most other direct service departments.
